We don't like to say goodbye to summer, but autumn in Ludington brings its own special beauty and unique offerings. And here's an even better reason to visit Ludington in the fall....

The first Barns & Byways tour, organized by the Ludington & Scottville Chamber of Commerce, was held in October 2008. The barns tour successfully welcomed over 400 people to view the historic landmarks of our beautiful country roads. Eight Mason County barns were open to the public, still in use by families whose ancestors date back nearly a century. Most of these historic barns are located on Conrad Road, where visitors toured the inside and compared architecture.

To enhance the Barns & Byways tour, cultural events were included, like the Quilters Guild Display, Custer Boot Scooters Line Dancing performances, antique tractor pulls at the West Michigan Old Engine Club and a BBQ Cookoff at the Scottville Farmer's Market.

The 2009 tour again featured the historic barns of Conroad Road. These barn owners worked hard to ready their buildings for the tours with painting and repairs and we thank them for their hospitality.

The Barns & Byways Tour of 2010 will lead us to discover a new slate of old barns--in scenic Victory Township. We will post a list of participating barns when they become available.

Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to get in the car, drive the back roads of Mason County, and take in the glorious colors of fall. Many trees will be sporting their shades of red, yellow, and orange for your enjoyment. With the crispness in the air, it's the perfect time to visit the past and honor local farms, which are the backbone of our country.

When available, tickets can be purchased in advance at:
